This is a major refurbishment of the existing kitchen and a rear extension to this 1970’s home in county down. The clients wanted to create a comfortable modern kitchen with living and casual dining options, they came to the showroom armed with magazines and had picked out several designs they liked.
The designer set to work to create a bright spacious room making the most of the natural daylight flooding in; polar white high gloss lacquer door fronts using a handleless design keep the clean straight lines throughout this German kitchen. The blackberry glass makes a dramatic contrast and works well on the tall bank of housings on the back wall providing refrigeration, cooking zones and additional storage, the worktop has been extended at one end of the impressive island to provide some casual dining.
The blackberry wall units are beautifully complimented with the natural light coming in below and feels like the garden has come into the room, the overhead extraction is concealed behind one of the door fronts again and conveniently slides open when in use. The lighting scheme has a functional relationship with the kitchen in terms of the under unit LED lighting creating lovely hues of light and atmosphere whilst removing the need for harsh overhead lighting, the flooring again mirrors the style and aesthetics of the space and function of the room.
